Prijedor Municipality is located in the North-western Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, laying on the river banks of Sana and Gomjenica, and various hills of Kozara Mountain sliding into Prijedor Valley hence offering numerous opportunities for municipal tourist development.

During its development years Prijedor had been regarded as commercial centre due to the fact that advanced development of the city and municipality had stemmed from setting up a railway communication line that ever since 1873 had linked Banja Luka and Zagreb.

For its geographical position the area of Prijedor Municipality falls under moderate-continental climate affirmative for development of various types of tourism throughout the calendar year as having four seasons with average monthly temperature varying from minus 1.1ºC in January to 20.1ºC in July, and with the absolute minimum of minus 30ºC in January, and the absolute maximum of 40ºC in the month of August.

Prijedor Municipality has its main roads and railway links to most of the European main
cities, and the very area of municipality has 70 km of main roads, 62.4 km of regional roads, 142.1 km of local roads and 600 km of uncategorized roads.
