The Hotel “Balkan” is the oldest hotel in Prijedor and is located in the very centre of the town. It was founded in 1961 as “The Catering Company LASTA” and as of 1972 it was owned by “Kozara tourist” Company. As of 2001 when privatized the Hotel “Balkan” is a stock company. It consists of the ground floor, the first and the second floor. In the ground floor premises there is a bank, pastry shop and a hotel reception. Capacity of the hotel is only 3 suites and 4 two-bed rooms. As it was privatized and reconstructed, hence decreased in capacity yet the rooms are very comfortable, newly furnished, newly equipped with modern technology TVs, and phones and separate bathrooms.

The hotel is suitable for business people who are visiting the Municipality as it is in vicinity of all important institutions and administrative offices. It does not offer meals, only accommodation is offered.
Before it was privatised, the hotel had employed over 100 employees, and nowadays there are 42 employees of the hotel. Mainly domestic business people frequently stay over.
