There are several sport clubs and associations in Prijedor, and also, there is sport and recreational centre in Benkovac. Sport and recreational centre “Benkovac” is located on 705 m altitude and includes: football field, handball field with asphalt pave, three basketball fields with asphalt pave, and three volleyball fields with asphalt pave. Prijedor has stadium and sport halls, which provide enjoyment in sport throughout of year. For lovers of extreme sports, there is airport “Urije” in Prijedor, established in 1952. In 1990, the airport was renovated and was host to the biggest parachuting championship of the former Yugoslavia.

 

Aero-club Prijedor is respectable sport collective, confirming its quality with numerous trophies and medals from championships in aeronautical sports, both in the country and abroad. The first verified aeronautical school in Republic of Srpska for education of parachutists, sailplane and sport plane pilots up to the level of flying instructor, is in this aero-club.

 

Each year, in the middle of July, there is International Open St Peter’s Day Parachuting Cup, held for the first time back in 1996. On the Fifth Cup, held in 2000, 22 teams with 95 parachutists of Republic of Srpska, BiH, Serbia, Macedonia and Hungary participated.
For those who love water sports, there is a diving club in Prijedor, which organises diving schools. Diving Club “Sana” is an organiser of “Sana regatta”, held for the first time back in 2006. This sport and recreational manifestation gathers many participants, starting in Ribnik, through Kljuc, Sanski Most, Prijedor, and ending in Novi Grad. Also in Prijedor, there is a motorcycle club with large membership, organising motorbike races. This manifestation has many visitors and is associated with numerous entertainment events.

Za ljubitelje vodenih sportova u Prijedoru postoji ronilački klub koji organizuje i škole ronjenja. Ronilački klub «Sana» je organizator manifestacije «Sana regata» koja je prvi put organizovana 2006. godine. Ova sportsko-rekreativna manifestacija okuplja veliki roj učesnika, a kreće od Ribnika, preko Ključa, Sanskog Mosta, Prijedora i završava u Novom Gradu.
