Kozara National park
Kozara National Park, sized 3,494.51 ha, was established in 1967 with the aim of protecting Kozara mountain and its cultural, historical and natural values.Central part of the National Park and Kozara mountain is the area of Mrakovica, with its flat plateaus at an altitude from 700 to 800 m. In the area of Mrakovica a memorial has been built in honour of soldiers who lost their lives during World War II. Kozara mountain represents a perfect destination for nature lovers and in its own way it is an air spa suitable for many different sports. Mrakovica, a cultural and historical complex and a memorial zone, is one of the most favourite picnic places in this part of Republic of Srpska.
The basic hydrographic feature of Prijedor municipality is the Sana river with its tributaries. The Sana river springs up near Medna in Ribnik municipality and it flows into the Una river in Novi Grad municipality. Its course connects six municipalities, which are Ribnik, Kljuc, Sanski Most, Ostra Luka, Prijedor and Novi Grad. A legend says that the name has its origin in Latin word sana meaning healthy.In the past the Sana river was of great importance for Prijedor because of its navigability which brought opportunities for trading. In the 19th century, Prijedor’s merchant fleet had more than 70 boats, each with 20-ton capacity
Eco centre Ljekarice
The Eco centre Ljekarice is situated between Banja Luka and Prijedor. It is 30 km far away from Prijedor and 40 km from Banja Luka. The Eco-centre, with its various contents and rich offer, allows development of different kinds of tourism. Swimming and other types of recreation are part of the Eco centre tourist offer.
